Considerations when running Vegan Items in production?

In a few weeks we are going to have our first vegan item for  a production run, I am unsure if this requires a wash prior to running. As a QA Tech i feel that we need to treat this as we do Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO. Could someone please give us some advice

Yes, you're right: treat is as organic. We usually have our organic or non-dairy production first thing in the morning, prior to other products (conventional or dairy) to avoid unnecessary changeover cleanings.

Assuming the vegan products do not carry allergens that your traditional products don't use, run the vegan first-then you do not need to clean between

 

If you have different allergens, then it doesn't matter as you need to do a full clean between either way

At our MVI facility we will have VEGAN and Vegetarian. We will run Vegan first.

 

 

Vegan ingredients are also completely separated from everything else in storage - cold, frozen and ambient.
