Reference of Regulatory Requirement for Supplier Approval
Could someone tell me the regulatory requirement about supplier approval for both domestic and foreign suppliers?
I want to show it in my company that it is not just apply for BRC but for regulatory as well.
Hi nevin2756,
FSMA Final Rule on Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food
Who Is Covered?
With some exceptions, the final rule applies to shippers, receivers, loaders and carriers who transport food in the United States by motor or rail vehicle, whether or not the food is offered for or enters interstate commerce. It also applies to:
persons, e.g., shippers, in other countries who ship food to the United States directly by motor or rail vehicle (from Canada or Mexico), or by ship or air, and arrange for the transfer of the intact container onto a motor or rail vehicle for transportation within the U.S., if that food will be consumed or distributed in the United States.
Did you mean regulatory requirement for approval of contracted transport?
Kind regards,
Tony

I too am having a problem understanding the question. In the USA:
foreign suppliers - are you the one importing? If so, FSVP applies. https://www.accessda...h.cfm?CFRPart=1
Domestic supplier - there really is no regulatory requirement - unless you have a preventive control plan that indicates a supply chain control.
Yes. My company is importing Foreign suppliers' product. Thank you for the FSVP.
For domestic supplier, we have supplier approval program for Domestic suppliers. Is that mean I won't have problem during BRC audit if I remove my supplier program for Domestic suppliers?
Is there a regulatory said Storage and Distribution is exempt for Domestic supplier approval program?

no you would still need an approved supplier program for BRC.
no you would still need an approved supplier program for BRC.
I found something below, isn't this basically saying need supply program which including domestic as well? This one is not Foreign supplier but it talks about human food for FSMA.

In Key Requirements section,
- Supply chain program:
- Another entity in the supply chain, such as a broker or distributor, can conduct supplier verification activities, but the receiving facility must review and assess that entity’s documentation that they verified the supplier’s control of the hazard.
