Got an audit.
Need a job description for me
Anyone got any ideas of what to put in.

What are you new to?

The way it reads you have been 'thrown to the lions', so to speak.

I assume JD's are available for your colleagues, and perhaps your predecessor, so copy the same format. Otherwise it appears to be a large amount of documentation required.

You wil probably find examples floating around the web. Pop a search in and see.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forums.

A Quality Manager's role will vary from organisation to organisation depending on the human resources available therein. For example in an organisation without a human resource or technical department it's likely that the poor old Quality Manager will be lumbered with training and development and the resultant record keeping as well as supplier development, material approvals, specifications etc., etc., etc…

In fact the word ‘Quality' is a bit of a misnomer as a Quality Manager is often responsible for all of the business systems such as Quality, Health & Safety, Hygiene, and Environmental.

Franco is right it's simply a list of the things that you do. We can try and help you to compile the list, but first it would be helpful if you could let us know what resources you have in your organisation (organisation structure) and what disciplines you are responsible for e.g. Quality, Health & Safety, Hygiene, and Environmental and also any management systems you have in place e.g. HACCP, BRC, ISO 9001, ISO 14000 etc.

1 what you are called

2 what you do

3 what you achieve

I am totally in sync with your approach in describing a "Job Description". Your approach is dynamic, objective driven and has room for continuous improvement towards coverage of new scopes and purposes where necessary and when required. (This is not so the case with the usual version)

A HACCP Manual is a living set of documents. Your brilliant idea represents that dynamic principle and I intend to adopt this approach in my next HACCP Team where their duties and responsibilites will be defined......needless to say on the basis of "what they intend to achieve". Thanks Jim.
