Appropriate concentration for iodine sanitizer solution in foot mat
Started by Shere- Dean, Nov 02 2022 07:38 PM
Hi everyone,
In our Meat Processing facility, we currently use an iodine sanitizer to decontaminate footwears (i.e., this solution is placed in a foot mat and personnel required to step into this solution before entering the plant).
1. What is the required concentration (ppm) required, to ensure that footwears are properly sanitized?
Please share articles etc., if possible, as evidence for your answer.
PS. We have iodine test strips in stock.
Thank you.

You would have to talk to your chemical supplier and could validate by conducting some swabbing to see what concentration cleans to your standard.
You can test the concentration on a daily or weekly basis (based on risk)
Hope this helps
2 Thanks
Your chemical supplier can give you the proper concentration.
We check our boot wash concentration every 4 hours.
