Hello all,
I am about to implement a project where i need to introduce a foaming step in mushroom manufacturing.
Going to use a chemical Topax 686.
just wondering if someone has used it and how to validate it?

and how to verify the process later on

Thank you in advance.

Greetings,

Don't take it so far as to validate the cleaning product. I don't have any affiliations, but ECOLAB is a well known company and with a variety of food grade cleaning and disinfection products that find use in food industry. Validation is mostly done for you through the MSDS.

If you really need to show something for it then you could set up a test period were you will have let's say 5 applications of the product according to instructions in different dilutions too (from the recommended range of the manufacturer) and then sample all surfaces and send them for analyses to a lab, see if they come back "clean".

That will be your verification method afterwards also. You should set up a sampling plan at set intervals, were you will be taking surface samples from time to time and send them for analyses to verify the ongoing effectiveness of the process.

Regards!

Do you mean that you need to validate effectiveness?  They've done the research, so by following procedures laid out by the manufacturer so contact time (if applicable) and concentration they will tell you how effective it is and you can verify using ATP

HOWEVER  it is a cleaning agent, not a sanitizer, so perhaps you're missing this step in your process????

I agree i will follow the label for the concentration required.

Depends on what you looking for. For general microflora, like TVC and Enterobacteriaceae, you can use PCA. For yeasts and molds (since you do have moisture that can support their growth on surfaces) DRBC is generally good. For Listeria Half-Fraser. Lastly for Salmonella you can go either PCA or Buffered Peptone Water.

The mediums I mentioned are the broth you are going to have in the tubes that you will place the swab, before you send it for analysis.

You can generally go with PCA for all of the above mentioned, except for Listeria (I strongly recommend the selective medium for this one), so that you don't have all these different mediums.
