Kosher certifications for Co-packer

We are going to be starting to do business' with a co-packer since we have an incredible large order.

Our product on our end has already been kosher certified.

Since we will be sending that bulk product to the co=packer and they will be the ones packing it into our bags, do they need to get the product kosher certified for their facility as well? Or does our original one cover all?

Would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks,

We are having a similar conversation with a company we co-pack for. The kosher certification not only certifies the product, but the facility and process as well to ensure there is no potential for cross-contact with non-kosher items.

So, in short, yes the co-packer also needs to be certified.

Yes, the copacker needs to be kosher certified as well as the product.   Not all rabbinical organizations accept the others standards.   You need to contact your rabbi.  You will probably need a copacker agreement.   if they are not already kosher certified - you have a mess.

Yes I agree with others that the co-packer would need to be kosher certified. Kosher has as much to do with the product itself as the environment in which the product is manufactured in.

We had a similar situation and at first I said that both had to be certified and then a contact was made to the cert body and they made an exception for this.  I do believe however that they all don't all do the same, so check with your cert body first.
