How many samples need to be taken for minimum weight records?

We pack all products to minimum weight. We currently record one check of each run, however on a recent audit we were asked to statistically record the weight. We run about 40 different products and pack by hand, the most of one product produced is around 120. Having checked on TS the information is all about average weight and states that minimum weight doesn't need to be recorded!

How many samples would you expect to be taken & recorded?

Many thanks

Greetings Laura,

There are no directions as to how many samples taken would satisfy your auditor, but you could use the attached "The Weights and Measures (Packaged Goods) Regulations" as a general guide (main focus would be pages 15 and 17). It concerns the e marking, but it is useful as a reference for your statistical analysis and the reasoning on how many samples you will take per batch.
