Auditing an Edible Flower Farm

Hello everyone, I'm new to farm auditing; still getting familiar with the standards and criteria.

- Does anyone have a sample audit template they could share? Alternatively, would a GAP auditing template be suitable?

- What are the specific things I should look out for when auditing the edible flower farm?

Cheers

auditing to what standard??

auditing to what standard??

Hi Scampi, which standard should we be looking at to audit an edible flower farm? Will it be under GGAP?

GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) would be a good place to start auditing a farm, but if you're auditing a business it is usually to see if they meet a specific standard. A lot of companies require their suppliers to have a GFSI recognized certification (BRC, IFS, FSSC 22000, etc). It's probably a good idea to audit against one of those standards, again depending on the actual goal of the audit.

Who required the audit and what were they trying to achieve?

I imagine a GAP audit is a decent start.  Anything deeper into the ingredient or business as a whole would probably be dependent on the intended use:  if going into a tea, hold them to a standard similar to teas; if intended to be eaten raw as a garnish or salad type ingredient, maybe a standard like a leafy green producer would be suitable.  Just kind of spitballing here...
