Still possible to initiate a poll in a running topic ?

Dear Simon,
I remember yr adding a note in a thread that a poll could be added to an existing thread by clicking on "add a reply" and searching for a poll bar as per the one which has appeared when I started this new topic. In the former case I don't see anything, has this option been removed or is it a problem at my end ? (hypermetropia whatever). If removed, no problem, just wasted missing a TV program

Hi Charles,
When you are replying you should see the option to manage the topics poll as per the attached.
If you can't see this I wil look into it further.
Regards,
Simon

Dear Simon,
Very strange. On the two threads running under the name of this one, clicking the "add reply" now brings the "poll" bar up correctly but this doesn't seem to happen on any of the other forum threads (tried 5-6 at random). I don't get it.
I tried IE (normally use FF) but no joy. It's probably me (somewhere).

added - maybe you could try adding a dummy reply to the "scared of food" thread and yr "magic touch" may free the thread up so I can continue.

In that case it must be a forum settings issue, there are loads of settings/permissions that can be changed per forum and they must be different. Bear with me a minute and I will check.

OK I've learned a few things. In the settings there was an option:
Number of hours to keep open the ability for topic starters to attach a poll to their topic (Does not affect administrators or super moderators).
This was set to 24 hours. I've now changed this to 1,000,000 hours, so now the 'topic starter' should be able to add a poll whenever. If you are not the 'topic starter' you will not be able to add a poll to the topic. If this is the case let me know the poll question and options and I can add the poll for you, either that or start a new topic with the poll.
I hope that made sense.

Dear Simon,
I think you've corrected it. The "scared food" thread is showing poll bar now. I just realised that perhaps the only person who can initiate a poll is the thread starter, is that right? If so my test on the other threads was ambiguous since not from me (and still not showing poll bar i think). Anyway i will go ahead and see if the poll thingy cooperates.
Thanks very much (holding breath)

You can breath again Charles; I think we've worked it out.
