Tolerance Weight Of Board

A question for board manufacturers. This might be a silly question but is there a standard tolerance weight on manufactured cardboard e.g. +/- 10% or is that too simplistic.

How to determine tolerance
Acceptable tolerance of calibration measurement equipment
Weight control tolerance levels in Asian markets

Simon,
Off the top of my head - I am not aware of an industry standard.
At a local level, we do quote +/- 10% on board weight although is not a key measure (used to give information to customers who use tear weigh scales that they need to reset from batch to batch).
I would have to ask you why are you asking about board weights - if you are looking at specifications you are far better to get more specific about performance characteristics of the board.
A theoretical board with the same type of papers & same weights can have dramatically different performances depending on the supplier of product & raw materials.

Richard

I just wanted a ballpark figure to help out with some analysis I'm doing on filled pack weight V's actual quantity of contents. The weight of the frovi board is one variable that I needed to take account of. I know the weight off the board but had no idea of the tolerance that could be expected to be achieved by board manufacturers. At this stage it doesn't have to be 100% accurate and I will work with 10%.
I did ask the supplier and they are still getting back to me…so I thought it would perhaps be quicker asking here. I was right…and even on new baby sleeping patterns.
Impressive!
Cheers mate!
