Calculating the volume of bottom gusset bag

Dear packaging expert:
I need to calculate volume of bottom gusset bag, do you have any idea how I can calculate it. Because I'm not sure with the % lost of space with bottom gusset design. How would you measure fill capacity of bottom gusset bag actually? Can we calculate it by dimension? Let say I have 20x20x5" for wxlxgusset. I don't think the volume of gusset bag will equal to 2000 sq inch.?? with gusset design, can we fill up to 100% capacity?
Please help
Jenny

Fill the bag with whatever you are going to fill it with to the desired level and then empty it out and weigh or measure the contents. I'm sure there are probably some holes in this theory, but hopefully not in your bag.

Simon
Dear Simon,
Nice try. Presumably you assume density = 1 if measurements iin gm / cm3 ? or do you tip the contents into a measuring cylinder /water and observe the change in volume (assuming they can be made to sink?)
Certainly gives a meaningful operational volume but it will I guess vary with different products ??
I can guess what a top-gusset bag is but why a bottom gusset ?
