Hello

I realise from the forthcoming event e-notice board that they are a couple of IRCA Approved Lead Auditor Courses offered and happening some time soon.

What I do not understand is the difference in the course content as offered by Mr. Kelly's and Mr. Yong's when the objectives are the same.

Personally, for the reason of manual formatting compatibility reason only, I do not understand what ISO 9000 has anything to do with ISO 22000 as in Mr. Yong's case since ISO 22K is really a stand alone standard. As in Mr. Kelly's case, the issue of ISO 9000 was never mentioned.

Maybe, the trainers should emerge to give us their views and once and for all, can we have the real version of ISO 22K interpretation for audit implementation rather than one's views. Provision of competent training and by competent trainers is extremely vital.

Regards
Suzuki

They obviously stop by pretty regular; hopefully they will answer your call Suzuki.

To add a bit more confusion, why the charges for Lead auditor courses vary from country to country,
may the conductor be same or different? For ex Lead auditor course fee for ISO 9001 in India is less than
Rs 20000(ie approx 500 USD) where as in Ghana it is 1600 USD.

This links in with the question on consultants charges. The basic rule is they charge what they think they can get away with in the country / market / size of your company / whether you sound like a pushover. Never answer the question "so what is your budget for this project?"

I spoke with someone recently who was trying to purchase some packaging material from India. He got a quote to deliver to the UK and the price was high. He later rang somebody else at the supplier and said he wanted the material shipped to Dubai for transport to Pakistan. Guess what - the price was 50% cheaper than the first quote.

Dear Simon,

You said it. We too had the same experience. We wanted to purchase pest repellers to Ghana from India. We had quotations from a party in India. Due to some reason or the other it fizzled out. When I went on my vacation I bought the same pest repellers from the same party at almost half the prize( of course I didnt mention that it was required for Ghana).
Even then ,things are much cheaper in India compared to International market. We were buying lab coats and other items regularly from VWR in the past. The very same lab coat I got it done in India for a very reasonable prize this time.

I guess you cannot blame the salesman. I outsourced some web design work to India recently; they charged me $15 per hour. That's about £7.50 and you can just about get a janitor for that in the the UK. For a good quality web designer or programmer you would be looking at about £25 ($50) per hour minimum. The moral of the story is I'm delighted and the Indians are ecstatic. The fact they would be happy with $5 - $10 an hour is neither here nor there.
