A quick update on the progress of ISO 22000 from ISO TC 34 Working Group 8.

Things are going well on ISO 22000. The Draft International Standard has been approved by Technical Committee. The next step is to integrate the comments made by the member nations into the FDIS - Final Draft International Standard. Once that is done the standard will be sent to the member nations of ISO for approval. It is expected the FDIS will be approved by the end of 2005.

Simon

Great! So, it will be around one year to prepare for those companies who would like to install ISO 22000...

By the way, Simon, you look nice in your new outfit!

Yes originally the schedule was for a November release. If I were to hazard a guess I'd say September 2005 before we see it.

Regarding the outfit - it's very uncomfortable, especially the gold tinsel G-string, but its worth the pain when one gets such nice compliments.

Ho, ho, ouch!

I have just had a chat with my main food auditor today and one of the issues brought up was the need for clients to comply to the numerous fragmentations of "private" certification schemes which tend to be rather costly and we are keenly looking at ISO 22000 as hopefully the solution to this.

Its nice to know that it has been finalised and we believe that the direction to food safety program may be permanently changed with ISO 22K.

SaferPak has brought to light and knowledge of ISO 22K to 591 members to-date and I am just one of them. Thank you, Simon. Without which I am probably still in the "dark" as many professionals that I know today are indeed in the dark about ISO 22K.

More needs to be discussed about ISO 22K at this forum.

Interesting: apparently of 48 votes only 3 were negative - Australia, France and Japan. Even so seems to have generated a lot of interest - 156 pages of comments! Wouldn't like to be part of the committee going through that lot.

As these aren't copyrighted materials and providing Simon doesn't mind I'll post the file as an attachment. (1, 374 KB - is that too large?)
That would be great. Not sure about the size, try it LM. If it's too big email it to me at info@saferpak.com and I will upload to the web and provide a link to it.

Simon
