I've just got hold of a copy of Henry Ford's Lean Vision - Enduring Principles from the First Motor Plant by William A. Levinson.

I'll post a review when I've read it, probably be sometime around October 2005.

Has anyone else read it? Are you reading anything worth talking about?

Regards,
Simon

I'm reading KAIZEN, The Key to Japan's Competitive Success, by MASAAKI IMAI.
ISBN # 0-07-554332-X.
This great work has to date, challenged my perceptions and understandings of Quality, Quality Control and Total Quality Control.
This is a great read and I would indeed recomend this publication based on my reading so far (Half done).

Hi Wallace,

In resurrecting this thread you've reminded me that I've still not read Henry Ford's Lean Vision. I'm going to start tomorrow.

I've just finished the Kaizen book by Imai.
It was just great. I have sincerely been challenged as to my current understanding and practices of, what we in the west call "Improvement".
I have to admit though, Ford are indeed practicing much of what I read of throughout the Kaizen publication.
The Ford Production System (FPS) has Kaizen infused throughout its processes.
I recently took part in a forum discussion at the C*#! regarding, the apparent differences between Continual improvement and Continuous improvement. Before reading the Kaizen book, I would have said, "There's absolutely no difference", Now I can say that Improvement is by nature discontinuous and is aligned to the word continual, due to the use of the PDSA and PDCA models.
Here's a challenge for the SDF, define the differences between the PDSA and PDCA models.
Wallace.
