Hi There
Did any of the UK members watck blood, sweat and takeaways recently aired. I read an article in the newspaper that expressed surprise at the very high hygiene standards of the plants and posed the question of how the UK could possible compete with these companies who employ so many people at such low costs. Anyone any thoughts?

Shame about the changing procedure (hair covering last?) but the hygiene in the tuna factory doesn't look bad at all.
"No talking, the saliva will contaminate the fish" somehow I doubt that but I'd love to see the reaction from my operators! They think I'm strict lol!

I've just returned from auditing a supplier in India.
Now I was prepared to turn a bit of a "blind eye" as i really didn't know what to expect.
But boy was I shocked.
The place was spotless with fabulous Food Safety controls. I learnt a lot from them. Their standards were amazing.

I've heard the same about Thai chicken factories. I think the retailers have had a big impact in driving these standards but also culturally it's a bit easier from what I've seen to frankly bully people into doing what they're told. I'm not sure how I feel about that from an ethical perspective but from a food safety one, it's fabulous.
