I started out life in the food industry almost 22 years ago working in a State laboratory for the summer holidays. Not because I had any particular interest in testing food but mainly because it was within walking distance from home and I liked the sound of working in a laboratory. After graduating from college I went to work in companies such as Glanbia and Guinness as a manager with responsibility for quality and food safety.

Eventually I established my own private consultancy and training business called Food Focus specialising in food safety – something I did for 12 years. During these years I have always been perplexed by the lack of good food safety management software. I’m delighted to say things have moved on, and I’m happy that I am playing my part by bringing Safefood 360 to the market to ease the pain I felt. I hope it will ease some of yours. I’m CEO of this young and ambitious company. We are very open and want you to be part of what we do. So… we want to know what you are thinking, your experiences, your knowledge and insight. You will find us more than willing to listen and learn.

George.

My affiliation with the food industry goes back 12 years when I started my working life packing boxes of chocolates onto pallets in the largest indigenous confectionary company in Ireland. Within 18 months I had transformed many of the in-house systems and was promoted to IT Manager. Over the following 5 years I was exposed to every facet of food processing and I am proud to say that my input has in some way contributed to their success today. By the same token this company gave me a great grounding both professionally and personally and I owe a lot to the people I worked with during this time.

In 2005 I setup my own IT Project Management & Software Development Company and developed software solutions for food processors and business in many other industries. A project which I am particularly proud of is a track-and-trace software solution which is still ensuring traceability for thousands of ingredients and products annually.

Today I am COO of Safefood 360 and I am primarily responsible for product development and managing our development team. I do a lot of other stuff besides, including supporting our growing customer base, which I thoroughly enjoy.

As George said above, we are eager to hear your feedback and look forward to having many productive discussions with you in the months to come.

Philip.
