We want to keep the price down and using local auditing companies is a way to reduce the travel fees. Does anyone know some good "local" food safety audit companies we could utilize? I am looking for any suggestions nationwide.

I suspect that, basically, yr.def. of "good" = cheap ?

By "good" I actually mean knowledgable. We would like to use audit companies that are familiar with the basic food safety standards and already are conducting food safety audits. We want to use these "local" companies so that the suppliers do not have to pay so much for the audit traveling fee. We would depend on these "local" audit companies to be our eyes, as we would decide to keep or terminate vendors based on the audits they conduct. We have relationships with all the major auditing companies such as ASI, NSF, Silliker, etc. but they do not have auditors in many locations where these very small suppliers are.
Right now I am looking for local companies that can perform audits for processors only. At the first of the year, I will also be looking for audit companies who can perform these audits for produce operations as this is when GFSI will release the Emerging Market audits for produce suppliers. Our company currently does not accept audits from the USDA or local health departments/state inspections.
For our company, a small supplier is one that makes less than $1 million total company sales per year. This would include all sales to all companies. Many of our small suppliers make less than $100,000, so we would like to reach out to these local audit companies to help our small suppliers with the price of the audit and travel fees.
Is that a little more clear? If not, please let me know and I will try to further clarify.

You need to click on the "Global Markets Toolkit" which is the second icon to the right. The GFSI technical committee that developed these audits are tracking information about who is interested or viewing these audits, so they will ask you to fill out some information. They will not send you anything and will not distribute your information. Once you fill out the information and click submit, you will be able to view the documents. If you are interested in viewing the documents multiple times, I would save them to your computer as they will ask you to fill out the information every time you try to view the documents online.

Also, we have small suppliers across the US, so I am interested in any audit company no matter where they are located. This includes the continental US as well as Alaska and Hawaii.
