Help with Door Gaps!
Hello everyone!
My facility is currently having some problems with door gaps. We have roll-up (garage-like) doors in our shipping and receiving areas. Although the doors have plastic flaps on the bottom and side to keep out pests, after a few days/weeks the seal will become loose and bam, another door gap! This is also an issue for some of our regular access doors. We've had our maintenance man work on a couple of the doors, we've had him try metal bottom seals, weather strips, etc... but nothing seems to stay or hold (maybe we use the doors too much? :headhurts:).
Is there any product or material that you recommend to use?
I'd really like to solve all these door gaps because we're having a small pest issue and it needs to get resolved!

Re your 'pest issue' - have you established that the rodents are definitely getting in via the doors?
Unless you can completely rodent-proof your doors, rats or mice will gnaw through brush strip or rubber bumpers to gain entry if they are accustomed to getting into your building that way.
Yes, you need to eliminate the gaps but you also need to address the existing rodent infestation outside as well as inside.
Where are your rodents coming from; is there vegetation or stored materials near your loading doors that are providing cover to allow them to approach the building?
Make the exterior as non rodent-friendly as possible and carry out treatment against the external population prior to installing your new proofing - otherwise the existing rodent population will attack your new brush strip!
One facility that I used to audit had rodent issues and found a solution that work well for them. They had a 5' strip of rock around the building but they were round smooth stones. They replaced it with crushed rock (jagged - sharp edges).

I see that this supplier mentions that the product is suitable for pest prooofing but I(like others above) have my doubts whether it would keep out rodents (if that is the pest issue the OP is having?)
(I have seen first hand evidence of rodents(successfully) gnawing through a 3" thick hardwood door to gain access to a food premises(restaurant)-so I doubt whether a brush seal would particularly deter them!)
It's obviously important to fill the gaps to minimise physical contamination etc-but the best way to deter rodents IMEX is to ensure there is nothing inside worth the effort of gaining access!

Had our audit a few weeks ago, and this gap got a non conformance.
We got over head door company to look at it, besides replacing brushes nothing else they can do.
So, besides rebuilding our dock what else can anyone do?

Longer brushes would be my off the hip suggestion. They make some huge ones, 6" at least. You want them to be sized just high enough they aren't over compressed but still eliminate all light (gaps).
Xcluder has some with a roll AND brushes, specifically designed to be more rodent proof. They are pricey though https://buyxcluder.c...NhoCNSEQAvD_BwE
It was going to be my choice, but I can't use aluminum in the plant.
