Phones in Pack house Office
Hello
A simple question I hope, I cannot find any reference as to the kind of office telephone allowed within a BRC pack house. Is it OK to have a cordless phone so the packhouse manager can use it on the floor or must telephones be kept in the actual office, I think it is OK as we can use a tablet for recording data on the floor, just want to make sure I am right.
Thank you :helpplease:
We have been BRC certified for 6 years and have never had any comment on the use of portable radios in the production facility so I don't think a portable phone would be an issue.

Hi mica,
Well, i suppose it's larger than an ear-ring. But definitely a Foreign Body.
Beware of Sod's Law.
Things to consider: (1) any small parts that could dislodge and contaiminate product and (2) the phone would most likely be made of plastic and would need to be on your glass & brittle plastic inventory. If dropped, would the phone shatter?
Along these same lines, our supervisor is also a volunteer fireman. When he is on call, he carries a radio clipped to his belt with a mic clipped to shoulder. We have never evaluated this for food safety hazards and probably should.
