Contract Manufacturing & Packing Documentation

Hello All,

We have currently started contract blending/ packing for customers who send in their own ingredients/ recipes & packaging.

In the past we have always developed recipes/ written specs and bought ingredients ourselves.

The new customers have sent supplier questionnaires etc to us which we have completed.

However, I think we need to send them a document stating what they are sending in to us is legal & food safe etc - they have not sent any ingredients specs (is this normal?). All I know is which allergens are in the recipe..

Does anyone have a similar document I can send them or shed some light on this? :helpplease:

Thanks,

Yas

How about a Certificate of Authenticity/Analysis? If you're doing positive release, you can at least send copies of the bio/physical/chemical analysis of the final product against the customer spec.

Sounds like they are looking for a continuing food product guarantee.

Put that phrase in da Google.

You'll get numerous examples.

Also search here on this forum.  You'll find several threads.

Hi JPO,

Do you think we need to send them the food guarantee document?

I'm concerned they are sending various ingredients for blending and I have no paperwork for it..

You should be getting at LEAST a food product guarantee from the people who are providing you with ingredients for use in your production.

per the fun of the Food Safety Modernization Act in the USA, you are now required under the Preventive Controls rules to properly manage your "suppliers'.  You need to be sure that their risk has been properly assessed.
