Procedure for conducting a Crisis Management Plan Test

We've written our Crisis Management Plan and now need to test a mock crisis scenario.  Will an auditor accept whatever testing protocol we decide to follow, as long as it's documented?  For example, does the crisis management team have to sit in a room together until each has worked through his/her own relevant responsibilities or can we meet, divvy up the work per the Plan, and then report back at an agreed upon time?  Then at that point, report on what worked, what needs to be modified, etc., and be sure everything is documented?  Thanks.

For our test, we were not in the same area when we worked through the exercise.  Each person on the team was responsible for their part and recording how long it took, what worked, and what didn't to the Crisis coordinator, who then compiled all of the information.  We then had a documented follow up meeting to develop an action plan based off of our findings and kept that on the agenda for our management review meetings.

Your input is very helpful.  Thanks!

I've never had a problem with auditors reviewing my "review and test" documentation in any form as long as it demonstrates we took it seriously and used the opportunity to make changes/improvements to the plan. Reviews that say "everything was perfect" tend to get much more scrutiny. Emphasize what didn't  work and show the review was helpful at making the plan continuously improve.

Together or apart, either way is fine. Document each step and then put it into a sequence of steps. Be sure the duties assigned match up to your crisis team listing - so if one person is the media contact person you don't have the person designated for something else contacting media, etc.

Does anyone have an example of the writeup they completed falling the mock crisis? We have our Level 2 phase 2 audit next week. We completed the mock crisis, power loss Monday, but I wasn't sure how to best document it.
