Foot Baths - Sanitiser Strengths
Hi all,
we recently ordered Foot Baths for sanitising the boots while entering into high care area.
How do we check the concentration levels for sanitiser. I found the following strips to be used.

But I heard the strength of sanitiser should be atleast 2400ppm in some forums and 1000ppm in some forums. what should be the sanitiser concentration?. also if there are any strips in market to check this concentration levels?

It depends on what sanitizer you intend to use in the foot baths, it looks like you've been focusing on chlorine, which would be fine, however you run the risk of bleaching all your employee's clothes and concentration will degrade quickly.
I'd recommend a QUAT based sanitizer for foot baths as it will leave a residual on the shoes and degrade less quickly. Reach out to a chemical supplier, and the product itself will have a recommended concentration on the label or provided by the seller. You can then look up a test strip/kit that will let you verify the concentration is at the level you want it to be.
Remember that foot baths need to be changed frequently throughout the day to prevent them from actually contributing to problems.

Hi Vikram,
You dilute the original sample to get it in the usable paper range. Then multiply by volume ratio .
eg solution of 1000ppm needs diluting 9:1 to give approx 100ppm which readable on paper strip
If you use a boot scrubber unit prior to the step in sanitizing system (mat, dam pool, etc.) the sanitizer will not need to be changed out that often. Does take some experimenting.
