Biological Controls - Direct Food Contact Packaging Factory
Hi there
We are a packaging manufacturer considering a move to High Hygiene BRC (direct food contact ), currently Basic hygiene. I'm scoping out the project and wondered how other people approach biological controls for direct food contact applications.
I know we don't need to a create a highly sanitised pharmaceutical type environment, but how clean does it need to be? Can this be controlled with a simple thorough cleaning programme? If so, do people use certain disinfectants, and how often do they thoroughly clean? After each job?
Interested to hear about others experiences
Thanks!
Is this change being required? Has your program been accepted thus far? If there is no pressure to increase your hygiene, what is the motivation? Also, what type of packaging are you currently producing?
Its a required change for commercial reasons, we produce corrugated cartons
Cleaning often is sweeping, wiping, dusting, etc. This makes it look neater but doesn't necessarily kill bacteria, etc.
Sanitation is killing the bacteria, etc.
Other biological contamination could include insects, mice, sick people, etc.
