No alarm or data logger for temperature monitoring
Hi,
Just interested how we can justify not having data loggers or alarm system to monitor chiller/freezer in our factory to BRC auditor (BRC Food Safety V8)?
We monitor temperature every 4 hours but there is gap of 12 hours from evening until next day morning when no one is available to check temperature.
We are bakery and only produce ambient products.
Thanks for your input.

You can get cheap data loggers that you put in the freezer/chiller and then dump the data into the software that comes with them. You can set the loggers to only collect 1/min or 1/hour (whatever works)
Then if you come in the morning and there appears to be an issue, just dump the data and you'll know if you came above temp
Hi Martin,
I agree with Scampi, you need a data logger or a chart recorder. Difficult to justify not having one or the other given that we are not talking about a huge expense.
Kind regards,
Tony

Hi Martinblue,
Does the Standard specify the monitoring requirement ?
I assume the readout/display is external to the Unit.
Do you not have engineers on site at night who can be "deputised" ? ( = MEX).
