Meeting SQF 11.3.9 Requirements - Sanitary Facilities

Most of the employee restrooms in our facility do not open directly into processing areas.  Many are located in common walkways.  My biggest concern is that production will sometimes stage materials near the restroom, but I think the easiest fix would be to simply not allow that to occur.  Would this be an appropriate solution instead of having to reconfigure the restroom in order to add an airlock?

Also, our production employees have full work uniforms (pants and shirts) that they wear, so they can't take their uniforms off when going to the restroom.  I'm wondering how others handle situations like this?

Hello

I'm confused, If the restrooms are not in the production area why are materials stored by them? Are you talking about warehouse?

I worked in a company where we used uniforms and we used plastic aprons in areas where employees were handling product. Every time they went out for lunch or break they had to throw them away and get a new one when they returned.

What alemv15 said. I am also confused how restrooms are not really in processing areas but product is being staged there?

I would go with the "easier" fix, not staging product there.

If it is somewhat "impossible" you would want to find another solution perhaps like the one you mentioned.

Agree with alemv15, have them wear disposable aprons. We do this and I instruct them to take them off when they use bathroom and during breaks.

Even without "uniforms" , if they wear their regular clothes, it is still impossible to take their clothes off for bathroom. So I would recommend disposable frocks.
