Organizing Foreign Material Library

Hello all, I am a QC associate with a frozen finished goods start up, and am looking to learn more about organizing and establishing a foreign material library. We've recently set up a mailbox for foreign materials to be sent in by our customers (glass, plastic, extraneous vegetable material, etc). Does anyone have any references or suggestions on how to go about starting this? We're hoping to use this as a means to help with FM investigation and as a good reference for future issues. Thank you!

If I may----your focus needs to be on WHY are you getting GLASS AND PLASTIC in your FG---then you can focus on storing those materials

Your facility needs to perform a very thorough investigative internal audit preferably today

Apologies if it sounds harsh--but GLASS is a HUGE problem

Understood! We do issue corrective action reports and hold internal investigations.

However, we would like to retrieve these materials and organize a library as an additional measure.

You've missed my point--you appear to have repeated failures to the point where the company you work for is saying it's no big deal

Someone needs to say STOP let's figure this out

Small ziploc bags with id tags staples to the complaint report and filed is the easiest way

But i can't say this enough!  You shouldn't have so many you need to create a library!

Is it anyway not illegal to send potentially hazardous materials via normal postage services ?.

Photographs ?

Do you audit your facility. So looking for the potential problems before they happen. We have very little glass but the glass jars we do have - they are from an ingredient we use. Those jars are checked before being put into a recycling bin. If any pieces would be broken off - we investigate.
