Pasteurised milk filled into non-sterile bottles

Hi I am working with a client who produces pasteurised flavoured milk drinks that are filled into glass bottles. Their documentation states the milk is  filled at a minimum of 63C. I don't feel this is really hot enough for a "sanitising affect" anyone know of any guidance on this? They could probably achieve 70C given their process but not sure if there is any published data to reference? Thanks in advance

What document are you referencing?

The document I am talking about is within the clients FSMS HACCP. However, I am wondering if there is anything in the literature/on the internet I can guide them to in setting the lower limit?

The 63C is the pasteurization temp for the milk, but according to my quick search, that temp needs held at that temp for 25-30 minutes, so I would agree, not hot enough for long enough to sterilize the bottle

My quick search also went on to add that usually dairy based bevies are cold filled (after pasteurization) on a sterile line into sterile packaging

i hate to comment as i am not sure of your countries regulations.   I have worked in a dairy processor in the usa.

We pasteurized at 75 for 15 seconds and chilled to less than 45 degrees prior to packaging.    Flavored (chocolate, strawberry, orange) milks need to be pasteurized at higher temps and times.    others have provided these times and temps.

We did not package in glass.   I hope its not returnable/reused glass.  that would be a nightmare - in my opinion.

We packaged in purchased pet bottles or blow molded hdpe, cardboard, and bags.   None of these would be considered "sterile".

is the 63 c used to control a hazard in the milk itself or the package?

how do they chill the finished product?   you do not want milk above 7c for even short amounts of time.   it will greatly reduce shelf life.

Presently flavored Milk beverages are UHT treated
(Continous process)140 centigrade for 2 secs and cooled to 70 centigrade, homogenized and cooled aseptically packed in Tetrapack or Sterile Pet bottles ( pet bottles made from preforms at site and sterilised with peracetic acid ( 2000 ppm at 65 centigrade)and rinsed with sterile water in sterile environment and filled at low or ambient temp.
Yours seems to be a Batch process of
pasteurisation at
63 centigrade for 30 minutes.

You can sterilise your glass bottles with steam or
hot boiling water or any approved steriliser like those used for pet bottles and fill the glass bottle at 63 degree in aseptic environment .
