Transfer of Cardboard Packaging into High Care-High Risk

Hi, does anybody have any experience of transferring cardboard based packaging (such as cardboard sleeves, etc) from low risk into high risk or high care. We get cardboard sleeves delivered in cardboard outer cases without any other form of wrapping so once the outer is removed there is no other layer that protects the sleeves, which makes any sanitisation transfer into high risk/care difficult. Does anyone have any advice for how to approach this? Thanks, Danny

Hi Danny. In our RTE High Care facility, we took a few different approaches to make the transfer of packaging from the "basic' hygiene area of the facility to the "high care" area of the facility. For high volume packaging items, we would ask our supplier to place their cardboard sleeves, for example, into plastic bags before they put the sleeves into the shipping case. Once we received the cases of sleeves into our facility, we would take the plastic bags that contained the sleeves out of the shipping cases (done in a "medium" hygiene zoned area) and then would place them into our own sanitary plastic tote that was on a sanitary plastic pallet. We would then take the plastic tote that was filled with the sleeves into the high care area.

Hope this helps.

Hi Danny. We manufacture cartonboard packaging for food use and do exactly as Ted says. We pack our cartons in blue, food grade plastic bags and then put them in corrugated outers for shipping. Just make sure the bag is food grade and the manufacturer has the relevant certification.
