Any SOP or records could help

It depends on how you are using the screen.   Normally you would just want to make sure that the screen is not falling apart (becoming a source of contamiantion and allowing undesireable things through.   

 

if you are making a food safety claim (such as CCP) that it is removing FM, you may need to have the mesh / opening size validated.

I second the sample of kingstudruler1. We have sieves with holes between 3-6mm as a CCP for forein bodies (we make sauces/dressings so no baby food, hence filters between 3 and 7 mm).

 

We record it in a Yes/No question before AND after production:

 

Before production:

- Filter is clean: Yes/No (with No = clean again)

- Filter is intact: Yes/No (with No = hold procedure for the filter and use of a different, intact and clean filter)

 

After production:

- Filter used is intact: Yes/No (with No = hold procedure for both filter and finished products, and warn QA)

- Foreign body in filter: Yes/No (with Yes = warn QA for analysis + hold procedure for finished product)
