Hello!

First of all, let me say what a wonderful forum you have here, I've been reading your topics and I have to say that I've learnt quiet a lot.

I am a food safety and quality manager of a cork organization in Portugal and we are implementing ISO 22000:2005. My doubt is what kind of methodology do you use for categorize you control measures as oPRPS or HACCP plan ? Do you use a decision tree ? What kind? I've tried to use the "codex" decision tree but that only works for the CCP.

Please share your wisdom

Thank you,
Pedro

Hello Pedro, it's nice to hear from a user of the standard; we haven't seen very many so far. There are several members with very good knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22000 and I'm sure they will be more than pleased to share their wisdom with you.

Cheers,
Simon

Hi Pedro
In practice, there is no hard and fast rule on how you wish to implement your system. At the end of the day, you would need to ensure compliance and comformance to specific requirements.

The Codex-Decision tree was specifically designed for CCP identification and I can appreciate why your attempt to use the decision tree failed to help you categorize your "control measures" for OPRPs in particular.

As Charles C. had directed you to some earlier specific threads, your understanding of OPRPs would in fact be the answer to your question.

Pragmatically, where continual observations or intervening control verification activities are required to ensure maintaining a suitable environment for the production of safe food, OPRPs need to be established.
