Dear Saferpakers,
it seems EU legislators do not !

Analytical uncertainty is the expression of the fact that the result of a chemical analysis is not simply a number but a range associated with a confidence level, usually set at 95%.

It happens that EU legislation do not take into account these facts hence the same product may be judged either compliant or not compliant to legislation according to the Member's interpretation (see diagram at the bottom of page 12).

Thus uncertainty estimate may have dramatic effects on commercial transactions.

There are four ways to estimate analytical uncertainty, see details in the document, pages 27-29.

I suggest we set up a SDF poll to show if these methods are actually in place or else and which is their distribution among Saferpakers.
