Crisis management and business continuity plan in Packaging company

Hi All,

I have a big problem. We've got the Non Conformance during the Audit (the auditor was our customer) regarding the major incidents and disaster recovery processes. We dont have the Crisis management or Incident business continuity (disaster recovery) plan in place.

I read a lot in this Forum and it looks like it is a very big job to compile all these... We have Emergency procedure where we cover all the emergencies in environmental area, we have Product recall procedure as well. But we dont have any crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery plan and I have no idea how should it look like. I am very comfused, should I compile one procedure to cover all this or better to have a separate procedure for each?

I would love to have something clear and not very long to cover all this. Do anybody has sample of Crisis management or business continuity plan or disaster recovery plan to share with me?

That would be much appretiated, as I dont have much time for my reply...

Regards,
Jurate

i will dig around for you
Hi All,

Thank you for the answers, but the thing is - as much I am reading it looks more complicated for me. All the concepts of crisis management, incident, business continuity plan, disaster recovery plan are so related to each other and sometimes it is difficult to understant what is what.
Anyway, I almost finished to compile my Incident procedure, where I will have bits of everything :) I hope this time I will solve this issue and in future will think more.

Just one more question - where do you record Incidents? Do you have Incidents book or other document? Do you record all Incidents in the same place, lets say environmental problems and other (egz. machinery problems)? I know that the environmental manager informs EPA about all incidents regulary by completing their form, but that could contain very minor incidents, like smell outside etc. Should we log all environmental and other incidents in one place ..?

Thanks.

I agree; anyone got a template for combining business continuity plan, crisis management, product recall into ONE document...?

Dear D-D,

I fear the difficulty is precisely as Jurate / yourself have already stated. The various terminologies frequently overlap and users also tend to not adhere to any particular recommended format(s). The word crisis does not occur AFAIK in BRC6 tables, to take one example.

IMEX, the comprehensive handling of this topic is typically covered by a company "book" with individual sections / forms / xreferences to cover items such as mentioned in brc 3.11. Generic-type forms for some of these aspects, eg recall, incident do occur in various places on this forum but local requirements may still demand further modifications.

PS you might find the FSIS form in the second attachment of this post to be of some interest -
