Professional Indemnity Insurance Food Consultant
Hi All,
I've just set up my own food consultancy business and I'm in the process of getting quotes for Professional Indemnity Insurance. I was wondering what level of indemnity I should choose? It tends to range from £50,000 to £5,000,000.
Your feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks ;-)
Hi Stilton79,
I have been in the consultancy business since 2006 based in the UK but with global clients.
My current level of Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance is £1m.
I have recently had to increase this due to the requirements of one client.
You might find some clients are happy with a "low" level of PI insurance and others not!
My gut feel would be to go with similar cover but then again, I don't know your clients ie small family business or multinational corporations who have spent £££m developing their brands. No easy answer, if a client doesn't like the cover you have ... they will soon tell you!
Good luck!

HI
Our PI insurance is currently £2m
And this has been sufficient for all clients apart from one (the government)
regards
I'm a 'one-man-band' food safety consultant part-time, and I have £500K professional indemnity and £1M public liability insurance, which seems to keep my clients happy.
As a guide, that shouldn't cost more than £400 per year - mine is £204 through my professional organisation, but that's very competitive.
