Thanks Blossom. Any complaint regardings hair from arms ?

There are disposable sleeves that could be worn when contaminaiton is a posssiblity. I would say that if you feel it may be a contamination hazard, you provide a very light weight long sleeve shirt for them to wear. If you think there might be an issue--you may be right.

It's a tough call!

Hi

In all the bakeries I have worked with the clothing standard has been dictated by the customers, which is employees must be covered:

Wrist to neck and neck to knee, the typical 'white coat' does the job. Bakers tops / Short sleeved coats and boiler suits are not permitted.

If you are not making branded products for a customer then you have more freedom.

But I would always insist on proper product protection, no exposed hairs!

Bakeries are hot, but product safety idoes not reduce the further away from 'comfortable' you get.

Hairs are hairs, head, arms, legs, any other location all equally problematic.

Also why do bakery employees who wear short sleeved tops always seem hairier than the average?

rgds

I've worked in a bakery and bakers tops were the only possibility.  45oC heat in summer is not practicable with a coat.  We didn't supply any of the big 4 in the UK but we supplied into their suppliers.

thanks all for answers
