Hairnet only?

Im getting asked if employees only have the option of hairnets? Meaning, the goal of the hairnet is to cover hair, so hats, doo rags, caps, all cover hair also. So are these acceptable to wear instead of hairnets? Or is it hairnet only for everyone?

Thanks for your time,

Mike

MIke it should be hairnets for eveyone, unless they are a office employee. Hairnets are a must and alot of companies will have you take them off before going in the bathroom or outside. Its the safest way to go.

Hairnets are generally put on fresh each day. For caps, doo-rags, etc. you are relying on the owner to keep them clean. I have seen people hang onto caps for years without being washed. Not the same standard as a hairnet

Different areas may use both depending on what is going on in the area.  At a cheese facilities raw milk recieving we required hair needs for all drivers unloading, so they wore them UNDER their ball caps.  Also another facility my better half works at they do alot of batching of 25kg bags (600+ per person per shift) so they sweat alot and therefor are told to wear doorags under their hair nets to keep sweat from entering vats.  So may be up to site but yes hairnet to me always a must

Error on the side of caution. Hairnets for everyone!

Thanks everyone

In addition to that, regardless if the food handler/outsider is bald/shaved head; they should also wear hairnet as it not only preventing hair falls to the food but also the dandruff/scalps.

Using do-rags and caps would require a risk assessment in terms of sanitation. Their cleaniliness/sanitation frequency followed by verifications etc will depend upon the same. While the hearnets are usually disposable in nature hence do not pose a contamination threat on reuse.
