Exporting from Canada to US

Good Morning from Canada,

I have been tasked with finding information on whats required as an Exporter of Pet Treats and honestly, I have been reading the regulations for the past week and I still don't understand the whole process. I am looking for advice about exporting Pet Treats from Canada to the United States. Its an all natural Beef product made from human grade edible meat.

The part that I am still questioning is what is required on the US side, do we need exporter/importer permit or certificates of some sort?

My next step is to get in contact with CFIA Animal Health Dept, but I would like to be knowledgeable in the area beforehand.

I understand that Pet treats maybe handled different from Human food, but we treat it like human food so advice from that area would also be appreciated.

TIA

Lucky you!  Canada FS Regulations have been deemed equivalent to the US so you don't really have to do much at all...but yes, check with the CFIA to be sure, animal food is not my forte.
