Hi

I'm wondering if you can help, I have been asked by a customer for the following if we supply issue SYTE or Valid-IT certification of a product. I have not come across this before and I have contacted my supplier and this is the first time they have heard of this also.

Can someone give me clarification of what this is that the customer is looking for ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also if I didn't do it already, I must thank everyone who helped me with my last query, regarding the metal detector issue for BRC.

UPDATE, We were successful in obtaining the BRC in our 1st  attempt.  Thanks.

Regards,

BerBN

Here's the explanation direct from the horse's mouth..

Supplier Approval (ValidIT)

Valid-IT is administered by Eurofins on behalf of participating retailers to control the risk of GM contamination of specified GM materials and contamination of specified spices with illegal dyes.

The model used is a supply chain model where all suppliers of sensitive materials back to, but excluding, growers must be Valid-IT approved. We cover single and composite products which include these ingredients such as blends, flavourings, sauces and pastes.

Specific retailers now require primary manufacturers using these ingredients on their own, or as part of a composite product, to buy only from suppliers recognised by that retailer.

Approval on the VALID IT website allows your products to be part of that supply chain and used in UK Retailer Branded products.

I used to supply M&S and I know they used this for GM control but they have just moved to inSTYE (or something along those lines, sorry I was never closely involved and my memory is terrible)

2 Thanks

sorry me again...

here's the other one.Basically 2 companies offering the similar schemes. Which one you join is personal preference or which one your retail customer favours I guess.
