Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) audit preparations

Hello all,

In 2 months we have our first SMETA 2 pillar audit.

We did not think to much of it because we are a west European company who work accoding to the EU legislation in regards to ethical stuff.

Now we have received the agenda for the audit and we noticed that we also need a lot of documentation.

Is there, just like with BRC and IFS, a book with all the stuff we need to have to pass the audit?

thanks in advance.

No, it is quite different than both (BRC and IFS) Standards.

In two piller, You should have preparation for labour standard and Health and safety standards according to EU norms as well as UN.

If need more information, plz let me know.

A mere 90 Pages of requirements !

Actually there is at least one detailed audit report (2015) posted on IT if you search a little (eg google "SMETA documentation"). This contains example responses for many of the queries.

The Ethical Audit Information Pack looks great.  There are more documents and more information that will be required.  Completing the SAQ is very important as well.  In addition, employee interviews are a large part of the audit.  As an auditor, I would encourage you to acquire some training to not only ease your anxiety, but also to understand the program expectations and to have some assistance bringing programs into compliance.

We actually work with companies to prepare for smeta/sedex.

What a wild ride these are.

At this point I would get a copy of the audit and review that against what you have.

Hi everyone I am reading the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit Report Version 6.1 and I do see it says on page 14 to do  a SAQ-Pre-Audit and then on Page 28 internal audit reports from audit team with social auditing skills is this report I am reading the SAQ or do I find that somewhere else and do I have to get special training or I should say have someone else get special training on social auditing just to pass this because I am also the Safety Manager at my site and I don't think anyone wants me to see payroll records on top of it either.   We are a small company without a Human resource Department  so the Office Manager and I share human resource department tasks.

Thanks for all your help :)
