Daily cost of an HACCP Trainer
Good morning / afternoon / evening dear members,
I have been asked to give a training recently. However, if I already gave a lot, they were all done for my employer, but this one will be an independent one.
I am not scared about doing it, it is a topic that I know, understand and manage a lot, but they came with a question that I don't have any clue of it.
"How much will you ask to do it".
I know how much I ask for one day of consultancy. I know roughly how long I will need to work to prepare my training. So I have an amount in mind, but I really don't know if it is a "normal one", as I have no experience at all in doing this.
If you are yourself a trainer, or if you paid someone to make in-house training, can you please give me a clue about the trainer costs, per day or for 2 and 5 days trainings?
If you don't want to share it on the forum, you can also give me ideas by private message.
This will be very helpful.
Regards,
Mathieu Colmant
This may help to give you an idea
A large firm in Canada is charging $835 per person to get HACCP training for 1 full day at their facility
This link will show you what they are charging

DO NOT UNDERSELL yourself; if you're training <10 people, I don't think $5000 for the day is too much based on the rate of $835/person to go to them (they've got building overhead, they provide refreshments etc to cover)
Figuring out what to charge can be complex. When we first started out in SQF consulting we took into consideration what an Auditing company (not the Auditor) gets on a daily basis for doing a certification audit, looked at the value of what we offered and course all these "little" incidental costs such as our office staff, travel planner person, overhead, etc, etc,.
These days we work on a project basis, it is just way easier for us and for our clients - thus we come up with one price for everything.
For a HACCP trainer that would be doing the training at their location we would blanket training for up to 10 people at $5000, 10-20 at $7500 and 20-30 at $10,000.00 (most are at $5000.) and of course charge for ALL travel and travel related.
As Scampi said, - DO NOT UNDERSELL - We like to say - DO NOT UNDERPRICE yourself, if you have "goods" and do really great work you'll be worth every dime.
There will always people that will be cheaper, don't fall into the trap of competing with crap. - I like that one.

Well said Glenn!!!
I have a partner in crime as we consult on the side and he would charge 25 dollars per hour.... TWENTY FIVE!!!! I have now convinced him to pick up his price and he's doing alot better now. The guy has been in the business for 15 years, we are working together as we both have full time jobs and on the side we consult. Never undersell yourself, company's lake to take advantage so be firm with your price and stick with it. Your time is golden.
