Meaning of chapter 4.4.5 in IFS, checking purchased products
Dear quality colleagues,
what does mean in ifs the chapter 4.4.5:The purchased products shall be checked in accordance with the existing specifications and their authenticity, based on hazard analysis and assessment of associated risks.
In practice, what you have to do? Check every raw material ´s spesification against the original specification you have?
And what does the origin mean in this case? Country of origin? Do you have to check the origin from the batch documents and compare it to the existing spesifications?
I would be very very happy, if some one could tell me what does this mean in practise.
Kind regards,
Viivi
Hi Vivii
In practice it means that you should checks all incoming materials against the relevant specification on file,. To ensure that your raw material is from food fraud one must trace it origin and some specific property of the product in question. Yes origin can be check from the relevant batch data or comparing the physical characteristic of the same product with the sample of the same product from the previous batch received. Yes the origin means country of origin

Thank you very much! This is a lot of work for a company where raw materials are coming from every corner of the world and in huge amounts, but that´s probably why the standards asks for it.
