Daily Weighing scale checks

Just wanted some clarification on daily scale weight checks.
If we have scales calibrated every year by UKAS approved company, is it still crucial to have daily scale checks carried out in house?
I am finding the new role I have taken on, staff are just bogged down with so many checks that it makes their job nightmare and it leaves it open to documents just being forged with fake readings.
Anyone able to advise if I can do away with daily scale weight checks?

The daily scale checks are important to ensure that scales are working properly. In extreme cases if you find out that any scale was out of calibration for few days and weighing was under weight then you are suppose to recall all the product/s weighed on that scale. To avoid such a situation daily checks are vital.

I had an SQF Auditor tell me that there is no need to do it since you already do annual calibrations. I had to disagree though because what if during the year one scale went bad? I wouldn't check them daily though, I'd keep it as a weekly task. but then again it depends on how and what you're using them for. Scale maintenance is also important. Make sure to let them know that if they drop it, they should communicate, not to move it around a lot...etc.

brc site, baked tray cakes, most products are sold buy how many slices per tray not by weight.
the weight is only for ensuring correct portion of eg cake mix and topping.

we are BRC site.
Baked cakes in tray format, no weights on finished product, only weigh for portioning of mixture before baking and after topping.
I am not convinced the 35 scales are checked everyday by means of set weights. I am happy to move to quarterly calibration. Have never come across this senario before.
All of our clients do weight checks everyday - regardless of when the "official" one is carried out, just sayin!
We always conducted scale checks everyday. Not doing so and finding out you have underweight products is not fun. It results in having to check your whole production by repacking good product and reworking underweights.
I'd rather be safe than sorry. Checking a scale shouldn't take more than a few minutes out of an operator's day.
Depends on how far back you want to have to go on a recall if you have a critical ingredient or finished product mis-weighed by a faulty scale and you didn't know it at the time.
Scale checks should literally take a few moments - very simple process, if you are doing it right.
I've seen WAY too many scales get bumped, moved, damaged, or just plain go out of tolerance for no apparent reason to ever go without checking them daily.
The exception would be for large scales, such as floor platform scales or semi truck scales, in which the variance is much higher, and the risk of them being out of calibration is generally lower...but things still happen, so I would suggesting checking those types of scales monthly, at least...and definitely check them after any incident where there could have been damage to the scale!
