Hi!

I work as BRC Specialist. Not a long ago, I implemented BRC food standard in confectionery company.
In our team, I' m the only one internal auditor of BRC.

Few months ago I was on external training about changes in BRC. I told about our situation about internal audits. The coach said, that I couldn't do internal audits, because I implemented BRC standard. We decide to start cooperated with outside company, which made for us this things.

During certificated audit, we heard from auditor that I can made internal audits and it's not necessery to cooperate with external company. In her opinion, as a person who oversees the standard, all the same time I can audit our plant.

I write because I got suggestions for implementing the standard BRC in another comapny. This time I will be a consultant, whoes help to implement standard. I would like to add that I will not be employee this second company only conultant (external services).

They asked me about internal audits. Now I'm confused, can I do internal audit or not. Has anyone had a similar problem with internal audits? As a person whoes implement  BRC, can I do audits?

I will be grateful for help.

Regards,

Nathalia

Hi Nathalia

if you are the only trained internal auditor for BRC, you can trained the team. this team you can use for internal audit.

Yes if you implemented the  BRC at your site, then you can not audit the facility as it will be the direct responsibility.

if i am not wrong you must be the food safety team leader in you company, if yes you cant do internal audits.

you can hire external consultants for internal audit, but in that case he has to provide internal audit program for throughout the year not for single quarter of single time.

Now if you are going to be the consultant for other companies, same will be applicable for you as stated above. in that as far as i know you can do audit as well, because you will be working as expert not as the company employees.

i will appreciate if further further correction is there what i said in above statement
