FSANZ packaging contaminants requirements

I am looking to see what regulation replaces 1.4.3 Articles and Materials in Contact with Food that looks at chemical migration. IS there a positive list or some other regulation that replaces this?

From a quick initial look, it appears that FSANZ has given up on regulating food contact materials

Great this makes it easier to handle. SO different compared to other countries.  But it was based on sound science and testing results i guess.

There is an Australian Standard (non-regulatory) for plastics for food contact use.  From memory it cross references the US FDA and the EU regulations for chemical migration issues, although it hasn't been updated since 1999.   It is AS 2070-1999 Plastics for Food Contact.

In the absence of local (Australian) specifics, we usually recommend that plastics suppliers comply with the EC 1935/2004 and EC 10/2011 regulations for chemical contaminants and chemical migration.
