Validating X-ray detector
We have an X ray system where we have validated it for 4mm ceramic, and 4mm glass. However when we try to introduce an actual ceramic piece (made out of a floor tile) the system is showing erratic performance. We get full detection in the test piece provided by the supplier but not in the real contaminant. Is it possible to arrive at a size beyond which we can be assured that detection would happen 100%. Know X ray works on the principle of density but it is difficult to have a feel of it as it is not easy to measure like a size.

Hi vinodknolgec,
I deduce this is a new instrument. Personally I would contact the supplier.
Hi vinodknofgec,
Did you look for its settings that would enable you to adjust sensitivity or other parameter adjustments?
Also, some machines would need a "Learning step" to identify what is it looking for that is when within the actual product run.
Consult the manufacturer of the equipment. They can better help you than anyone on here, they are the experts. We are shade tree mechanics when it comes to this stuff in comparison.
