Sourcing Ingredients - IQF Veg from China

Hi all,

I'm very new to the profession, so forgive me if I'm not asking my questions correctly. I am trying to source frozen veg ingredients for our products, with the goal of consolidating our needs to get as many of our goods from one supplier as possible. A new place I have sourced imports their IQF veg from China. Can you suggest some places to find recalls from manufacturers or of specific foods? I looked at the VACCP page for adulteration, and saw the suggestion for RASFF, after putting in a few examples, I felt like I was using it wrong. The salesman provided spec sheets for their products, and they look very thorough, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be looking for. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Helen

This is a good source of info

Or here

Make sure you request a GFSI certificate AND the inspection report for this vendor,  Costco demands twice yearly audits for all Chinese companies with good reason

FDA has a searchable recall database that dates back quite a ways:

Recalls, Market Withdrawals, & Safety Alerts | FDA

You can even download it into Excel when you want to build statistics on how often a commodity or supplier is subject to a recall.  For an example, just quick searching "IQF" on that website shows one recall that includes IQF vegetables for potential foodborne illness just this past August, and it links you to press releases detailing things like country of origin and the circumstances.

are you doing the importing or another company importing and offering them for sale?

iFDA import alerts is helpful if you know the Chinese orgin.     -  https://www.fda.gov/...t-alerts#decide

Thank you, all!

Thank you @Scampi, I appreciate the resources. I will also be sure to add these sites to my company's list of resources!

Thank you for this resource and suggestion @jfrey123!

We would be purchasing from a distributor who imports their product from China, who is offering to sell to us. Thank you for the additional resource!
