Boot Dip or Sprayer
Hi all. I am shopping for a new boot sanitizer system. We are a poultry processor currently using a boot dip that is labour intensive, a slip hazard and a pain in my a**.
What do you use and why was it your choice?
We use door foamers. Easy to install/use. It's set on a diluter and timer. Don't need to worry if the boot dip was changed out at the right time or at all because that one person that is covering that other person wasn't told to do it. Rubber mats are just hard to clean in itself in general.
We use floor foamers as well.
Pros:
- Titrations are consistent.
- Turn on and forget.
- Quick to adjust for various traffic patterns.
- The only way to go for wheeled traffic
Cons:
- A reliable source of air is required. This means that everything from the compressor to regulators, valves and fittings require PM.
- Pumps require maintenance.
- High start-up cost. Pump stations and foaming units can set you back $2000 USD each.
Dear All,
Indeed, IMEX costs can be prohibitive. I once tried quats in a boot dip pool (attractive rep.). Cost a fortune and seemed no more effective than hypochlorite albeit with less odour.

I have foamers and boot washes. I am trialing a granular quat. I like the granular quat, not sure of cost. It is very deceiving at how little you need to use.
works well in damp environments. granular sticks to boots and activates when in contact with water. Just another option to look at.
