Importer PCP Requirements
If I am importing products from my sister companies in the USA who comes under FDA or USDA, Can I just create a procedure on how I will verify that they have PCP in place and are compliant with the market fairness or I have to create a PCP for import separately?
Thank you
You have to have your own PCP, you cannot simply quote that the sister company is FDA/USDA inspected
There are hazards that may arrive once product is put on a truck, plus any regulated activities that occur to the products once they arrive at your facility....even if it's just storage and distribution
Hello Scampi,
For distribution and storage warehouses, they need to have PCP for their own receiving, handling, storage, and shipping, do they need to have food safety plans, finished product specifications from the manufacturing site which is in the USA.
I checked out the FAQs but it doesn't provide clarification for the PCP for storage and distribution. The warehouse that we are helping is saying that they need to have a copy of the HA, process flow, specs of the manufacturer as per their food safety person. if the facility is registered FDA & USDA as well as 3rd party GFSI audit which can be used as manufacturer being compliant for FSC.
Please if you have any feedback kindly add.
I appreciate all of your help.

Have you registered for a licence with CFIA yet?
You need a PCP plan that's based on your activities that your license is for. So if only storage/shipping, than that's what your PCP should cover for your physical location
The import PCP would be an addition........how do you ensure the products are being imported correctly and what risks need managed (including import paperwork)
