GMP is a control and defined as Good Manufacturing Practices. This can be a pre-requisite for hazards you identified.

Pre-requisites are procedures you have in place to control identified hazards.

Good luck!

2 Thanks

What are the different of GMP and Pre-Requisite.

from iso22000 -

prerequisite programme
PRP
basic conditions and activities that are necessary within the organization  and throughout the food chain  to maintain food safety

Note - The PRPs needed depend on the segment of the food chain in which the organization operates and the type of organization. Examples of equivalent terms are: good agricultural practice (GAP), good veterinary practice  (GVP),  good  manufacturing  practice  (GMP),  good  hygiene  practice  (GHP),  good  production  practice (GPP), good distribution practice (GDP) and good trading practice (GTP).

Clearly stated.  Thank you!

PreRequisite Program = a control program for hazards that occur in more than one location.  The control programs are active whether or not manufacturing is occurring. A good example is Pest Control.

GMP addresses general hazards that could occur anywhere in your manufacturing process (such as machine cleaning). Thus some people consider GMP to be one of several PRP's that should be implemented.

The previous threads IMHO illustrate the benefit of quoting established reference sources to allow meaningful discussion.

Otherwise it's likely to be more of a "free-for-all". Not uninteresting but perhaps difficult to utilise.

JFI some (slightly old) detailed PRP discussion in this file -

HACCP - Prerequisite Programs.pdf   60.88KB   209 downloads

ISO 22002-X probably contains the most detailed survey of PRPs.

another, perhaps interesting, comparison -

CCPs vs PRPs (and OPRPs).pdf   100.28KB   175 downloads

(oprp here is the iso22000-2005 version which was modified in 2018 revision)

I always remember it this way: PRP controls the physical hazards from elements such as location, building, equipment, maintenance and repair, floors etc. GMPs (which are a part of your PRP) control hazards from "Practices" which are related to behaviors of the people: Hand washing, food consumption, allergen introduction, chemical introduction, glass and brittle plastic introduction, wearing jewelry, wearing hair and beard nets, clothing etc.

Good Manufacturing Practices are general requirements needed for a safe manufacturing facility. You may also have other Pre-requisite programs specific to your activity.

To put it simply, all GMPs are PRPs but not all PRPs are GMPs.
