Hi All!

Can someone elaborate the difference between a 5-step and 7-step CIP?

Your response is highly appreciated. Thanks! :)

May need a bit more info but in my past experiences CIPs usually follow some variation of this sequence based on what soil you are trying to remove.  Sky is the limit but each company needs to find what works best for their soil load, water type, and environmental regulations.

1) Pre-rinse

2) Caustic wash

3) intermediate rinse

4) Acid wash

5) Intermediate rinse

6) Sanitize

7) Potable water rinse (depending on sanitizer & Concentration)

Hi roxan,

in my previous Factory 5 step CIP usually for 1 chemical action ( acid only or caustic only) but for 7 step use 2 chemical ( caustic and acid ) . it's also called Intermediate CIP ( 5 step) and Full CIP ( 7 step)

Hello,

the sequence depends on the contaminations and its solubilities. In many cases e.g. if you have proteineous, fat and mineral deposits you need a cleaning program which is able to remove all. The order ist important too.

hey all,

in our industry we mix the disinfectant and detergent in one step , and the final step when we verify the cleaning water we found it good

what do you think ?

Most chemicals are not designed to be mixed. Detergents are designed to remove debris and sanitizers are designed to kill microbes.............not sure of the efficacy of mixing them together

What do you mean you verify the cleaning water?  That doesn't tell you what may be left on the equipment...

yes as with last cleaning with water we verify by biocontrol measuring and the water have a good quality
