Difference between error and deviation?
We would like to differ between the two terms (error and deviation) in our Managementsystem (producing cosmetics), errors are not to be registered to the same extent as deviations.
But we have difficulties how to define the terms, do you have any suggestions?
(Deviation = product which can cause harm on the customer/re-labelling required? Errors...?)
Regards
Conny
I'm sure you'll find many different definitions on the forum and elsewhere. Context would help, errors on paperwork? Deviations from process controls?
IMEX:
Error: a mistake was made (e.g. someone forgot to plug in the metal detector, wrong label was applied)
Deviation: A change from standard procedure was made or the product failed specification (e.g. different seive size was used or test result was outside of limits).
I've never seen these terms used to describe the risk associated with a problem.
